Update on the work of the UN Secretary-General’s Independent Expert Advisory Group on the Data Revolution for Sustainable Development

arton4561The Independent Expert Advisory Group (IEAG) on a data revolution for sustainable development has released its draft report, “A world that counts - mobilising the data revolution for sustainable development,” available here.

Prior to that, the group held its inaugural meeting at UNHQ on 25-26 September. A civil society outreach day was held on 26 September, which brought together 60 representatives to consider a range of issues: open data and accountability; measuring the Sustainable Development Goals; and challenges and opportunities of big data and new technologies, amongst others. The UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS) is an inter-agency programme of the United Nations mandated to develop constructive relations between the UN and civil society organizations.
