PGA’s Setting the Stage Concert: A behind the scenes perspective from UN-NGLS (6 June)
On 6 June, 2014, President of the General Assembly (PGA) John Ashe hosted the concert “Setting the Stage: 2015 and Beyond.” Through this event, the PGA sought to “shine a spotlight on the enormous significance of the year 2015: a once-in-a generation opportunity to set the world on a sustainable course” through the post-2015 development agenda. The concert also aimed to inspire new citizen involvement in setting the new agenda’s priorities and goals, including through engaging with the UN MyWorld2015 survey. An estimated 1,000 attendees – from Member States, the UN and civil society – witnessed the diplomatic hall of the General Assembly temporarily transform into a stage for musical talent from around the world. Three of the interns at the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS), who volunteered to assist the Office of the President of the General Assembly on the day of the concert, share their behind-the-scenes insight and experiences supporting the musical talent on show day.
