UN Secretary-General Staff Awards 2016 finalists include OPGA, UN-NGLS NY & DGACM team for UN Secretary-General candidates process
A team comprised of staff from the Office of the President of the UN General Assembly, the UN-NGLS New York Office, and the Department of General Assembly Conference Management (DGACM) were honored on United Nations Staff Day 2016 as UN Secretary-General Staff Award finalists, for work together on the process for the selection of the next UN Secretary-General. The team was recognized in the category "Managing Change" for achieving "an unprecedented standard of transparency and inclusivity for the process," building on a mandate provided by UN Member States to the President of the General Assembly. We extend our highest respect to President of the 70th Session of the General Assembly Mr. Mogens Lykketoft, and President of the 71st Session of the General Assembly Ambassador Peter Thomson for their principled leadership in this regard. We thank UN Member States for their support of a more transparent and inclusive process which included civil society.
